# Removing Entries from Settlements

Learn how you can remove entries from a Seller's Settlement to minimize risk exposure

An `entry` can correspond to a Sale, Capture, Refund, or Fee. All `entries` are viewable in a Settlement on the Dashboard or via API.

There are many scenarios in which you might want to remove an `entry` from a Settlement. For example, you may be unsure whether a specific sale is fraudulent or not and would rather have Finix's risk team reject the Settlement.

## How to remove entries from Settlements

To remove an entry from a Settlement using the Dashboard:

1. Navigate to the Settlement.
2. Click the **Settlement Entries** tab.
3. Click the entry you want to remove.
4. Click the three horizontal dots `...` and select **Remove from Settlement**.

You can also remove entries from a Settlement in the Finix iOS app. Open the Settlement, go to the **Settlement Entries** tab, tap the entry you want to remove, and select **Remove from Settlement** from the ellipsis menu. - Removing an entry moves it to an [Exception Settlement](#exception-settlements). After removing entries, contact Finix to ensure the Exception Settlement is rejected before the daily settlement review:

1. Locate the Exception Settlement generated for the removed entries (see [Exception Settlements](#exception-settlements) below) and copy its ID.
2. Email support@finix.com with the Exception Settlement ID.

Emailing Finix Support
When emailing Finix Support, include the Exception Settlement ID (STxx) you'd like to reject.

## Exception Settlements

When an entry is removed from a Settlement, it moves to an Exception Settlement. You can locate Exception Settlements for a merchant by:

- Going to **Merchant Payouts** → **Settlements** tab. A new Exception Settlement appears as soon as entries are removed.

- Finding the original Sale, Capture, or Fee. The top nav bar shows the new Settlement it belongs to.
