# Authorize.net Integration

Authorize.net, a Visa-owned payment gateway, connects to hundreds of shopping carts, billing platforms, and software tools.

When integrated with Finix, Authorize.net acts as the gateway layer and routes transactions to the card networks, while Finix handles merchant onboarding, settlements, payouts, and reporting. Merchants keep the checkout they already use and manage their payments from the Finix Dashboard.

## How it works

1. Onboard the merchant with Finix. To learn more, see [Seller onboarding](/guides/platform-payments/onboarding-sellers/seller-onboarding-process).
2. Reach out to Finix to enable Authorize.net. Finix sets up the merchant's Authorize.net account and works with the merchant to activate it and retrieve their Authorize.net credentials.
3. Add the Authorize.net credentials to the merchant's shopping cart or billing platform and begin processing payments through Authorize.net.


After that, no additional steps are needed on your end:

- Authorize.net routes the transactions to the card networks, while Finix handles merchant onboarding, settlements, payouts, and reporting.
- Finix creates a Transfer for each settled transaction, calculates interchange and fees, and includes the transactions in the merchant's Settlements and payouts.


You cannot create, void, or refund Authorize.net transactions through the Finix API or the Finix Dashboard. Manage voids and refunds in the Authorize.net Merchant Interface or in your shopping cart. Payments created with the Finix API, Payment Links, or Subscriptions continue to process through Finix directly.

## Locating Authorize.net transactions

Once Authorize.net is enabled, transactions processed through Authorize.net are visible in two places:

- **Finix** - Each settled Authorize.net transaction creates a Transfer that is visible in the Finix API and the Finix Dashboard.
- **Authorize.net** - Transactions are visible in the Authorize.net Merchant Interface as soon as they are submitted.
