# Buyer Fees for Virtual Terminal Transactions You can add buyer fees to transactions processed through the Virtual Terminal to cover the cost of processing payments or accepting cards. ## Supported Buyer Fees The Virtual Terminal supports two types of buyer fees: - **Surcharge Fees**: A fee to offset the cost of credit card processing. Surcharges can only be applied to credit cards (not debit or prepaid), cannot exceed 3%, and are not allowed in all states. Merchants must be enabled by Finix to process surcharges. - **Convenience Fees**: A fee for providing a more convenient payment channel. Convenience fees can only be charged when the seller provides a payment method (usually online or phone) different from their standard channel (historically mail or in-person). Must be a flat amount. Note Buyer fees are not supported for ACH transactions. For more details on buyer fees and requirements, see [Buyer Charges](/guides/online-payments/payment-features/buyer-charges). ## Learn More Surcharge Fees Add surcharge fees to Virtual Terminal transactions to cover payment processing costs.
