# Invoices Quickstart Learn how to quickly create invoices with the Finix Dashboard. ## Creating an Invoice To create an invoice: 1. On the dashboard, expand **Payment Tools** in the left navigation and click **Invoices**. 2. From the **Invoices** list page, click **Create Invoice**. - The Invoice creation form displays along with a live preview. The live preview shows you what the invoice will look like to the buyer. It updates as you fill out the invoice creation form. 3. Complete the invoice creation form with the sections described below. ## Invoice Creation Form Sections ### Basic Invoice Information This section captures the foundational details of your invoice: - **Invoice Name** (internal use only): A label to help you identify the invoice in your records. - **Invoice Date**: The date the invoice was issued. Automatically set to today's date but can be customized. - **Due Date**: When payment is expected; you can select a preset number of days or enter a custom date. Basic Invoice Information ### Buyer Information Specify who the invoice is for: - **Select or Create Buyer**: Choose an existing buyer from your records or add a new one. - **Buyer Details**: Name, email, phone, and billing address. - **Buyer Type**: Indicate whether the buyer is an individual or business. You can edit the buyer information by clicking the Pencil icon. ### Delivery Options Control how the invoice reaches your buyer: - **Email Invoice**: Automatically send the invoice to the buyer's email address. **Additional Recipients**: Send to multiple email addresses by separating them with enter, space, or tab. - **Manual Delivery**: Send the invoice later through the dashboard by [sharing a link directly](/low-code-no-code/invoices/sharing-invoices#sharing-an-invoice-after-its-created). ### Line Items Define what you're invoicing for. Add one or more items, each with: - **Product/Service Name**: What you're charging for. - **Unit Price**: Cost per unit. - **Quantity**: How many units (optional). - **Optional Details**: Item description, per-unit discount, and item code for your records. You can add multiple items by clicking **Add another item**. Line Items ### Transaction Options Fine-tune the invoice total with: - **Additional Discount**: A discount applied to the entire invoice amount. - **Shipping Amount**: Delivery costs. - **Sales Tax**: Tax amount for the transaction. - **Terms of Service URL**: Link to your terms displayed on the payment page. You have the option to allow buyers to pay in partial payments instead of the full amount. For more information, see [Accepting Partial Payments](/low-code-no-code/invoices/accepting-partial-payments). ### Additional Invoice Details Customize the invoice document with: - **Shipping Address**: Where physical goods should be delivered, if applicable. - **Custom Fields**: Add fields like account number or project ID that appear on the invoice. - **Footer/Memo**: Include a personal message, payment terms, or additional instructions at the bottom of the invoice. For more information, see [Customize Branding](/low-code-no-code/invoices/customize-branding). ## Creating and Sending the Invoice Once you've completed all sections, click **Create and Send Invoice**. The invoice will be created and delivered according to your delivery options. Create and Send Invoice You'll see a confirmation message, and you can then view the [invoice details page](#invoice-details-page). The invoice is automatically sent to the email address(es) you specified during creation. This page provides a comprehensive overview and several management options. ### Overview Tab The overview displays: - **Invoice Summary**: Key details like buyer name, invoice amount, due date, and current state (Open, Paid, Overdue, etc.) - **Invoice Preview**: A visual representation of the invoice as it appears to the buyer, showing all items, adjustments, and totals - **Configuration Details**: Payment methods accepted, partial payment settings, and creation date Invoice Details Page ### Share Link To share the invoice link manually, see [Sharing Invoices](/low-code-no-code/invoices/sharing-invoices#sharing-an-invoice-after-its-created). ### Link Sharing History Tab To view a record of all invoice shares, see [Link Sharing History](/low-code-no-code/invoices/sharing-invoices#link-sharing-history). ### Payment Attempts Tab Track all payment activity on the invoice: - **Filter by Status**: View all attempts or filter by Succeeded, Failed, Pending, or Canceled. - **Payment Details**: See when each payment was attempted, who made it, the amount, and the payment method used. - **Payment Instrument Info**: Masked card number, card type, and brand. - **Export**: Download payment attempt data for your records.
