# 3D Secure Passthrough

US only
3D Secure is currently supported for US-based merchants only. Canada support is coming soon.

Authenticate payments with your own 3D Secure vendor and send the results to Finix.

If you already authenticate payments through a 3D Secure vendor, you can pass the values that vendor produces to Finix on an Authorization or Transfer. Finix forwards them to the card network with the payment, and liability shifts the same way it does for any other 3D Secure payment.

Your vendor is responsible for producing the values passed in `3d_secure_authentication`. Finix does not create or validate them.

Finix can handle authentication for you
You don't need your own vendor to accept 3D Secure payments. For the integrations where Finix manages authentication, see [3D Secure](/guides/online-payments/fraud-and-risk/3d-secure).

## Authorizations with 3D Secure

To authorize a payment, your server must send a POST /authorizations request to create an Authorization and provide the `3d_secure_authentication` data in the request body:

Capturing the Authorization
The Authorization still needs to be [captured](/guides/online-payments/payment-features/auth-and-captures#capturing-an-authorization).

## Transfers with 3D Secure

To charge a card directly, send a POST /transfers request and provide the `3d_secure_authentication` data:
