# Update an Identity

Update an existing Identity.

If you are updating the Identity of a Merchant that’s already been onboarded, you need to verify the merchant again.

## Path parameters:

  - `identity_id` (string, required)
    The Identity ID.

    Identifying information about the entity.

    The email address of the entity (max 100 characters).

    The legal first name of the entity (max 20 characters).

  - `entity.last_name` (string)

    The billing address of the entity. This field is used for identity verification purposes.

- Maximum character length for individual keys is 40.
- Maximum character length for individual values is 500.
(For example, order_number: 25, item_type: produce, department: sales)
